This new publishing initiative of the Green Man Press has the object of making available in current editions the works of Benjamin Burrows (1891-1966). Some of his works were published during his lifetime, but many were not, and these will appear in print for the first time in the Bodnant Imprint.

Save for a few songs, none of Burrows’ works has been available in print for some years. The present series aims to ensure that Burrows’ works, which are both highly original and yet characteristic of a lively period in music in Britain, can again be enjoyed by musicians and music-lovers.

Some of his works were published by Burrows himself, under the house name The Bodnant Press, some by established publishers such as Augener and Curwen. Others survive in autograph, or in manuscript copies, and some works may now be lost. We gratefully acknowledge the help of the Leicester University Library, and others who have made available the sources of the works now published.

We are fortunate in having as editor for the series, Brian Blyth Daubney, a former pupil of Benjamin Burrows. He has made his former teacher the subject of special study, the fruits of which are available in several publications.
